INTERNATIONAL
SALES
COORDINATOR

Since July 2018, I have worked for EF Educational Tours in Denver as an International Sales Coordinator. With EF, I help teachers that want to take their students abroad to promote tours with EF to countries in Europe, Asia, Africa, Latin America, and Oceania. At EF, I work for about 15 people on a sales team. This leaves my job to be very independent and self-managed. I have learned invaluable lessons on time management at EF, as I have to figure out how to best manage my time doing work for 15 people at the same time. I am honored to have had the experience I've had at EF as it has prepared me for the future I hope to achieve internationally. Through working at EF, I’ve gained skills that relate extensively towards my work in leadership. My unique position allowed me to manage my own work schedule and my own projects. This gave me a lot of freedom and forced me to work on my time management skills. This position also forced me to use creativity and judgment when making decisions on the project I worked on. Both of those skills are crucial leadership skills that I gained from this work experience. To be a good leader it’s important to be able to make sound judgment calls as well as decide how to manage your time efficiently to make your team more productive. After working 10 months at EF, I feel more prepared to take those skills with me into the next steps of my career.

TEEN
LEADERSHIP
CONFERENCE

In 2012, I helped co-found an annual Teen Leadership Conference in Tenafly, New Jersey. Every year, this conference is held to bring together high school students from different schools in our community to talk about social issues, such as climate change, sexual violence, poverty, LGBTQ+ rights, racial injustices and more. We bring in guest speakers that conduct a panel after the students break into groups and discuss their chosen topic of the day. This conference was the beginning of my leadership journey, and even has connections to what we’ve been working on in LEAD 4000. The topics we discussed a community at the Teen Leadership Conference can be described as wicked problems, and some are even the same as the ones we worked on this semester. To discuss these issues in our community on a micro level at the Teen Leadership Conference gave us foundations to look at these issues on a macro level later on in life. It’s important for communities to look at these issues, in order to be able to solve these issues. The Teen Leadership Conference is still held annually in my home town and works to bring together the ideas and collaborations from different communities in order to create future leaders. I think this was a great way to begin my leadership journey, because it allowed me to work with people from all different backgrounds towards a common goal. This was a beneficial way to bring these leadership skills into all aspects of my leadership career in the future.
